The ICT Market in Italy continues its steady growth, driven by the business demand for technologies and services aimed at the digital transformation of their processes. The Digital Transition is a cross-cutting priority of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) that is expected to contribute significantly to the exponential growth of this market in Italy.

A fast-growing national Digital Market

The market is expected to reach 91.7 billion euros in 2025 partly driven by the NRRP.
Sustained growth is expected in multiple transforming and enabling technological domains, particularly in the Cloud market (worth € 5.2 BLN in 2022), and in those domains focused on protecting, organising, and analysing data, namely Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence.

Wide 5G coverage and Cloud adoption
61% of companies have adopted Cloud computing services: 1ˢᵗ country among the major European economies.
Italy is also 1ˢᵗ in Europe in terms of households having access to the 5G network (99.7%).
The NRRP allocates 51 billion euros for the Digital Transition. Among the specific objectives, nationwide 1 Gbit/s connectivity will be guaranteed by 2026, ahead of the EU targets for 2030.

Home to 56 universities with ICT-related courses and to renowned centers, like the Centre for HPC, Big Data, and Quantum Computing in Bologna. Bologna also houses the new supercomputer Leonardo, making Italy the 1ˢᵗ country in Europe for computing capacity.
